The Diver Dan’s Annual Open House on May 9th serves as the official 2026 season kick-off. Running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, this event has been a staple of the local dive scene since 2010, providing a centralized hub for enthusiasts to network, find new dive buddies, and consult with trip leaders about upcoming expeditions. It is a family-friendly environment designed to bridge the gap between curious non-divers and seasoned technical explorers. Since its inception over 15 years ago, this yearly gathering has grown into a cornerstone event where the local "tribe" meets to share stories of past dives and plan for the visibility and conditions of the upcoming summer months.

A Detailed Schedule of the Day’s Events

To help you plan your visit and boost your chances for the raffle, we have curated a full day of education and hands-on experience. Each seminar attended grants you an additional raffle entry, so we encourage you to join as many as possible.
• 9:00 am — Sealife Cameras & Lighting: Join Matt Mulryan to explore the Sealife line of housings and the revolutionary lighting systems.
• 10:00 am — Upcoming Dive Travel: Meet our trip leaders to discuss upcoming international itineraries. We will be providing detailed briefings on our upcoming excursions to Bonaire, Grand Cayman, Fiji, and the high-octane pelagic waters of the Galapagos.
• 11:00 am — Mares "Natural Breathing 2.0": Jeff Wandschneider debuts the Planet 88XTBP regulator. Learn the fluid dynamics behind this system, which is engineered to eliminate the mechanical "cracking effort" typically required for inhalation.
• 12:00 pm — Ocean Reef Full Face Masks: Discover the safety and comfort of Integrated Diving Masks (IDM). This showcase covers nose-breathing techniques, integrated comms, and the increased field of vision provided by the Ocean Reef design.
• 1:00 pm — White’s Fusion Drysuit Technology: A technical look at the dual-layer system. Learn how the internal DryCore maintains a watertight seal while the external Skin provides the streamlining and abrasion resistance necessary for any type of diving.
• 2:00 pm — In-Water Pool Demonstrations: The highlight of the day. Head to our 90-degree pool to personally test-drive the Mares regulators, Ocean Reef masks, and White’s Fusion drysuits in a controlled, warm environment.

Premium Scuba Equipment Sales and Inventory Upgrades

During the event we will be offering extensive scuba equipment sales store-wide. These are some of the biggest scuba sales offered throughout the year for those looking to purchase life-support systems, including regulators and dive computers, or essential exposure gear like 7mm wetsuits and boots.

Technical Showcases: The Future of Underwater Exploration

The morning seminars are designed to be more than just sales pitches; they are educational deep-dives led by factory representatives. The 9:00 am session on Sealife cameras & lighting is particularly vital for underwater photographers. As we descend, the water column filters out reds, oranges, and yellows. The Sealife systems are engineered to replace that specific spectrum, allowing you to capture the vibrant reality of the reef without the "washout" common in standard strobes.

At 11:00 am, the focus shifts to the physics of breathing. The Mares Planet 88XTBP represents a shift in regulator design. By utilizing a bypass geometry that minimizes resistance, Mares has created a system where the air is simply "there" when you need it. For the diver, this means lower CO2 buildup, reduced fatigue, and ultimately, better air consumption. Understanding these technical nuances allows you to make informed decisions about the scuba equipment for sale and choose the gear that best matches your diving style.

Hands-On Experience in the 90-Degree Pool

The afternoon transitions to practical application with in-water demonstrations starting at 2:00 pm. We believe that you should never have to guess how a piece of gear feels in the water. Our on-site training pool is kept at a tropical 90 degrees, providing a stress-free environment to test-drive the new Mares Planet regulator, Ocean Reef Integrated Diving Masks and the White’s Fusion drysuits.

Because the pool is significantly warmer than the open water, participants are required to bring a long-sleeve shirt and athletic pants to wear inside the drysuits. This prevents overheating while still allowing you to feel the buoyancy characteristics and the range of motion provided by the Fusion’s dual-layer technology. Staff will be poolside to help with sizing and to provide tips on drysuit buoyancy control and full-face mask equalization.

Community Engagement and Raffle Prizes

To further engage the community, Diver Dan's has curated a massive collection of raffle prizes and giveaways. The raffle has been a way to thank our loyal customers. Entry is made simple: every visitor receives a ticket upon entry, with bonus tickets awarded for each seminar attended. For those looking to invest in new gear, additional tickets are issued for every $100 spent on scuba equipment for sale, making it the ideal time to both upgrade your kit and potentially win high-value items like new regulators, dive computers.

Logistics and Preparation for Attendees

If you intend to take advantage of the pool demonstrations, please ensure your athletic clothing and swimwear are packed and ready for the 2:00 pm start. Staff members will be available all day to assist with custom gear fittings, answer travel questions, and help you navigate the 2026 rental fleet reservations for your upcoming summer excursions. We look forward to seeing the community come together once again to kick off what promises to be an incredible year of diving.
