Steven M. Selvick
The 71 foot Steven
M. Selvick was donated to the Alger Underwater Preserve as a vessel to
intentionally sink as a sport diving attraction. After much voluteer time
and effort was expended to clean up the tugboat, it was ready for sinking on
June 1, 1996 just north of Trout Point off Grand Island.
Today it lies in about 60 feet of water laying on her port
side. It is very well intact with a little damage from ice and
currents. Divers can inspect the pilot house, engine room, kitchen, and
bathroom. Some deck plates at the stern have been removed to make it
safer. Doors have been permanently blocked open as well. The
vessel is in excellent condition and many artifacts were intentionally left for
divers to enjoy. |
